Join us for a weekend of Sangha, Connection, and Celebration as we commemorate 5 years of Recovery Dharma! This in person Summit will be held in Portland, Oregon. For those unable to attend, a live stream registration option will be forthcoming.

Friday, July 26

2:00pm – 4:00pm: Registration Begins
For In person attendees, this will be a time to meet new sangha members, connect with friends, and get acquainted with the venue. There will be an art table to create and decorate your name tag for the weekend.

For online attendees, the Zoom room will open at 3:15pm to provide space for online connection.

4:00pm – 5:00pm: Welcome and Annual Meeting (Livestreamed)
Our welcome session will include an overview of the Summit, an intention setting, and meditation. The RDG Board of Directors will host the organization’s annual meeting. 

Online participants will have the option to ask questions and provide feedback via the chat feature.

5:00pm – 6:00pm: Speaker S. Amanda Marshall (Livestreamed)
Amanda is a lawyer, mom, yogi, former US Attorney for Oregon, and person in long-term recovery. She was also a peer leader on the first elected Board of Directors of Recovery Dharma Global. During the Summit’s opening session, Amanda will share her inspiring journey of recovery and talk about how Buddha, Dharma and Sangha became her antidotes to pain and eventually connected her back with her open heart.

Online participants will have the option to ask questions and provide feedback via the chat feature.

7:30pm – 9:00pm: Recovery Dharma meeting (Online Offering)
Attend a Recovery Dharma meeting and meet up with new friends! A separate virtual meeting will be offered to online attendees.

9:00pm – 10:00pm: Evening Yoga (In-Person Only)
Join us for a meditative yoga session. 

Saturday
8:00am – 8:45am: Yoga (Online Offering)
Join us for a meditative yoga session. Yoga will occur both in person and online.

9:00am – 9:20am: Welcome, Announcements, Morning Meditation (Livestreamed)

9:20am – 11:00am: Affinity/Identity Group Panel  (Partially Livestreamed, Partially Online)
Participants will learn about the importance of affinity groups in our program. There will be a panel and then breakout group discussions. Participants will hear from our members and learn about the importance of affinity groups in our program. There will be time for information sharing, networking and meeting other RD members and groups.
 
The panel will be livestreamed. All breakout sessions will be held separately online.
 

11:05am – 11:50am: Identities Exercise (Online Offering)
Participants will reflect on the importance of their social identities and come together to cultivate compassion for themselves and connection with their wise friends.

11:50am – 12:00pm: Closing Reflections and Announcements (Livestreamed)

12:00pm – 2:00pm: Lunch Break 

2:00pm – 3:00pm: Speakers Chris Hall & Laurie Chancey (Livestreamed)
Hear from Chris Hall & Laurie Chancey, creators of the All Parts Welcome Recovery Dharma meeting, on how Internal Family Systems (IFS) relates to Recovery Dharma’s themes of Metta and Self Compassion. Additionally, learn about resources and techniques they have used to start an online meeting and IFS-related inquiry circle.

3:00pm – 3:15pm: Break

3:15pm – 5:00pm: Mindfulness, Compassion and Being Trauma-informed in Recovery (Partially Livestreamed, Partially Online)
Join us in a conversation where we connect trauma and addictions. What does trauma-informed mean and what impact does trauma have on the mind and body? We will learn about the interplay of trauma and addiction and its effects on the nervous system. Together we will discuss somatic self-regulation practices and other techniques to practice mindfulness and trauma-informed care.  Participants will learn helpful practices to regulate the nervous system.

All speakers will be livestreamed. All small group discussions/practices will be held separately online.

5:00pm – 7:00pm: Dinner Break 
In Person Summit attendees will have the option of attending a Portland-hosted potluck at the nearby SouthPark Blocks park!  *Prior registration is encouraged. 

7:00pm – 8:00pm: Evening Group Activity (Online Offering)
Let’s celebrate all we have accomplished in 5 years and have fun doing it!

8:00pm – 9:00pm: Recovery Dharma Meeting (Online Offering)
Attend a Recovery Dharma meeting and meet up with new friends! A separate virtual meeting will be offered to online attendees.

9:00pm – 10pm: Evening Yoga + Nidra (In-Person Only)
Join us for a meditative yoga session. 

Sunday
8:00am – 8:45am: Yoga (Online Offering)
Join us for a meditative yoga session. Yoga will occur both in person and online.

9:00am – 10:30am: Wise Friends & Mentors, Small Group Discussions (Partially Livestreamed, Partially Online)
Join us for a talk on Wise Friends and Mentors, followed by small group discussions on how to start a meeting, what an intersangha is, how to get involved with an inquiry circle, or how to take a meeting to a recovery center.

All speakers will be livestreamed. All small group discussions will be held separately online.

10:30am – 10:45am: Break

10:45am – 11:30am: Creativity and Reflection (Online Offering)
A collaborative activity will be offered as an opportunity to express creativity and connect with our peers. Participants will be able to reflect and share on highlights of the weekend. 

An individual creative activity will be offered for online attendees.

11:30am – 12:00pm:  Closing Ceremony (Livestreamed)
We will end our time together with a closing ceremony and cord-cutting circle.

To participate in the cord cutting ceremony, online attendees are encouraged to have red string with them.
