Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

What is the Recovery Dharma Summit?
Since the beginning, Recovery Dharma has held an annual Summit over the summer. While we offer online events throughout the year, this is the one time of year we are able to gather in-person, share our experiences, hear each other’s stories, and deepen our recovery. It is a weekend full of bringing together members, facilitators, mentors, and friends from all walks of life to share in the joy that is Recovery Dharma.
Who can attend the Summit?
The Summit is open to all members of the Recovery Dharma community. This is both for those we are well-acquainted with our program and those who are curious or just beginning. Whether you’re new to the practice or have been involved for years, you are welcome!

Registration & Costs

What is included in the cost?

The costs for in-person include access to all programming, lunch for 3 days, light refreshments, and coffee. This does not include lodging or any other meals.

Are there scholarships available?

We offer a limited number of scholarships to attend the Summit every year.
Our scholarship application period for 2026 has passed.
If you were unable to meet the deadline this year, we hope to see you in the future!
Our application window is typically February 1 to April 1, with awards granted in early May.

Travel

What airport should I fly into?
Charlotte has one major airport, Charlotte Douglas International Airport. This serves as a major hub for American Airlines.
What are alternative options to flying?
Charlotte has both Amtrak train and Greyhound bus service.
Will there be transportation provided to and from the venue?
While transportation is not provided, we will share information on public transit, rideshares, and carpooling options.
Where should I park?

We will have access to free parking for the duration of the conference on site at the Second Ward Gymnasium, 1.5 blocks away from the hotel. Hotel parking is $25/night (with discounted group room rate).

Conference Schedule & Activities

What can I expect at the conference?

The weekend will include guided meditations, Dharma talks, breakout workshops, panel discussions, and opportunities to connect with the global Recovery Dharma community. There will be ample time for self and group reflection, bonding, and sharing space with one another. We also will have fun and entertaining evening activities at night, as well as RD meetings throughout the weekend.
View the full schedule of events here!

What should I bring to the conference?
We recommend bringing comfortable clothing, a journal, a refillable water bottle, and anything you need for meditation (like a cushion or small blanket). We also will be providing daily yoga/movement, so a yoga mat is encouraged, but not necessary. There will be ones to use if you don’t feel like traveling with one. Please keep in mind that attendees are responsible for their own food options. Please plan accordingly. Most importantly, bring an open heart and a willingness to connect!

Accessibility

Will the venue be accessible?
Yes! We are committed to choosing an accessible venue. If you have specific accessibility needs, please let us know when registering.
